Terms of service

These terms govern your use of Lorun, an AI study tutor operated by Derin Lowe, an individual based in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA ("Lorun", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Lorun, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Who can use Lorun
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) and a student with a valid account at an institution whose learning management system you connect. You agree to use only your own accounts and credentials, and to keep your login secure.
What Lorun does
Lorun connects to your course platform, makes your course materials searchable, and answers your questions using those materials with citations. Lorun is a study aid. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Canvas/Instructure, Google, your school, or any instructor.
Academic integrity — your responsibility
Lorun is a study and comprehension tool. You are solely responsible for following your institution's and instructors' academic integrity policies. Do not use Lorun to complete graded work in ways your school prohibits, to take exams or quizzes, or otherwise to cheat. If you are unsure whether a use is allowed, ask your instructor first.
Your content
"Your content" includes the course materials and documents Lorun accesses on your behalf, and the messages you send. You represent that you have the right to access and provide that content. You grant Lorun a limited license to store, process, and transmit your content solely to provide the service to you (for example, to index your files and answer your questions). You retain all ownership of your content, and you can delete it by deleting your account.
Third-party services
Lorun works alongside services like Canvas and Google. Your use of those services remains governed by their own terms, and you are responsible for complying with them. Lorun is not responsible for those third parties or for content they provide.
AI-generated output
Lorun's answers are generated by AI and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect, even when citing your materials. Do not rely on them as a substitute for your own reading, your instructor's guidance, or professional advice. Always verify important information against your actual course materials.
Plans and billing
Lorun offers a free tier with usage limits and may offer paid subscriptions. Paid plans are billed through Stripe on a recurring basis until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops future charges and takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law.
Acceptable use
- Do not misuse, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service.
- Do not use Lorun to violate any law or any third party's rights, including intellectual property rights.
- Do not attempt to access data that is not yours or to circumvent usage limits or security controls.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Lorun is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lorun and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the service. The service is an early-stage product and may change or be unavailable at times.
Termination
You may stop using Lorun and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or to protect the service.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product evolves; we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
